A new diary page diptych mounted between Jack Segbars’ How to look out (2012) and Marijn van Kreij’s Untitled (Tags: ReadyPost, 0409, Go Folks, Go Forth, Trust Your Brain, Trust Your Body) from 2013.
As before, the titles correspond to the phrases that are left readable.
Left: September 8, 2012, page 2: …that being without a context was unbearable / …that you reach a dead end eventually / That at some point you lose control.
Right: June 9, 2011, page 2: Is this phase a phase, or is this truly who we are and will we forever keep our friends and our momentum?
Both works are from 2013, gelatin silver prints, retouche ink, glass.

Though it springs from a deep desire or inclination, it isn’t natural. Natural would be when I wouldn’t overly judge and overrule myself. / I must see to it that I won’t start believing all of this is worthwhile just because of that, lest I mistake one-way traffic for real communication.

But then, the other reasoning indicates this is the only proper mode of writing and, in fact, the only material I consider worth publishing. In edited form, though, with me as my own editor. / Fiction? Time doesn’t call for it, every fabrication (settings, characters) strikes me as an excess (…). Not just an excess, a dilution of reality: it suppresses the true urge to write.
